Post-ww2/1950s RAF Air commodore uniform. Nice officers tunic with rank braid for an Air commodore. The jacket is in overall very nice condition.

It is a relatively large size, but I have not measured it up. Should you want any measurements then please let me know. The jacket has all original buttons, belt, medal ribbons and lovely RAF pilots wings. The only issue I can find is small wear to the belt buckle area. The tunic comes with a pair of period trousers that appear quite large but are definitely a different colour.

Whether they were originally worn with the tunic I don't know but they are possible later replacement trousers. However the size is commensurate of the size of the tunic.

Unfortunately the label with any name or details has been removed from the tunic, but it indicates it was tailored by Gieves, a fantastic quality tailor. However I have managed to do some research because of the medals awarded and I possibly believe the tunic was owned and worn by an Air commodore John Mortimer Warfield. I believe this as the medals indicated he was awarded an OBE in 1945 and a CBE in 1949 for distinguished service in Malaya. Both of which the tunic has ribbons for.

There is further history to be found on Air commodore John Mortimer Warfield on the internet doing a quick search. He joined the RAF in 1930 and served till 1961. But as the tunic is not definitely named I can't guarantee he was the original owner of the uniform. Anyway the tunic does display well and would look great on display on a mannequin. The history is definitely worthy of further research as I have highlighted a very likely candidate who had a fantastic service history.

Overall a wonderful jacket, associated possibly with history to a fantastic RAF airman. Ideal for a RAF collection or display and worthy of further research.
