The Outposts of Empire poster series was designed by the Australian artist, John Vickery for the UK General Post Offices (GPO)'Posters for Schools' scheme. Dating from 1937, four countries featured in the series: Barbados, Southern Rhodesia, Australia and Ceylon. Poster depicting a (Ceylon) Sri Lankan postman holding a postal sack, standing in front of a wooden post office building with a thatched roof. This one for Ceylon is in excellent condition with a minor tear on the top edge on the border and there is staining on the corners from some old Blutack, otherwise colours are strong and vivid, no pin holes, minor pencil annotation at bottom left near the heading. Minor creases on reverse that don't show on the front.
