S26 GB QV 1841 2d BLUE PL3 SG14-E1(2) FU BLUE MX & POULTON PENNY POST 4 MARGINS. An incredibly rare and, as yet, unlisted variety. Poulton Penny Post has been seen on 1d stamps but there are no recorded examples on the 1841 2d issue. Added to that there is the dark blue Maltese cross cancellation (something I had previously mistaken for a black Maltese cross). This gives added provenance to the Pouton Penny Post cancellation as the blue Maltese cross is more common than the black Maltese cross when seen in combination with the Poulton Penny Post mark.
